The Taunus - the low mountains in the heart of Germany - is always a perfect destination for bus tours. Schmitten is located in the Upper Taunus Nature Park right next to the Großer Feldberg (Great Feldberg), with a look-out tower that allows for a breathtaking view over the Taunus and here you can visit the oldest Hessian Falconry (Falkenhof Großer Feldberg). The open air museum Hessenpark in Neu-Anspach and the Saalburg Römerkastell (Roman Fort) with Limes belonging to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage are nearby attractions which are not only interesting sites for those visitors especially interested in history.

Beautiful towns in the area - for example, Bad Homburg v.d.H, Kronberg, Königstein, Idstein, Braunfels – invite you with their impressive palaces, castles and picturesque old towns for sightseeing - and, of course, for shopping trips. Last but not least you can try your luck at the gambling tables of our casino in Bad Homburg which is also known as the "Mother of Monte Carlo".

Furthermore, the Frankfurt Rhine-Main International Airport is always worth a visit and can be reached within about 35 minutes from our hotel. Groups interested in the history of mining might like to visit the Besucherbergwerk Fortuna (Mine Fortuna) with its Feld- und Grubenbahnmuseum (Field and Mine Railway Museum) in Wetzlar.

In the pre-Christmas season many beautiful Christmas markets attract visitors from all over to the Großer Feldberg, the Hessenpark or to Frankfurt. Please find our list of further sightseeing locations.
